Hey guys, I have been going back and forth this this problem. I have a 1980 Camaro, I have rebuit the engine last year, and I have been having the problem where it will smoke. It will blow bluih smoke when you rev it up. at idle it is fine, or at least you can not see it, but if you rev it up past 3000 rpm, or when you drive it and you step on it it smoes bluish. I say blue ish cause I thought it was white smoke at one point, but at closer inspection of the smoke it dose look blueish.I have rebuilt mostly all the engine, excepte I did not have the block bored or checked. I honed the cylinders with a stone and drill. I replaced the bearings(the crank was no maked at all, and the block looked fine so I just replaced them), I replaced the stock 305cid dish pistons with flat top pistons with moly rings. I also replaced the heads with performance rebuilt heads, and I replace dthe carb.
Like I said I did not have the block checked out, lake of money, and time. so I am leaning toward two of the cyl are out of round, or cracked. I checked trhe plugs and #3, and #6 plugs are wet with oil. I have taken it on a trip, I moved from NJ to NC, and I drove it down, that was when I really noticed the smoking problem. She ran great, no problems, exept for this smoke. I did a compression check and I am ranging from 115 to 125 psi. I was told that was low, but this is a 305 cid, and if memory searvs me the compression for a 305 in 80 was 120psi, I have to look it up to verify.
Any way, today I took the car out to check a few things and I noticed that there was smoke coming out of the oil dip stick tube, and out of the hole for the pcv on the pass side, but when I removed the breather on the drivers side there was not smoke coming out of that side. This is driving me crazy. If you have any help or advice would be great, thanks.
