to add to the madness did you replace both gears or just the one if memory serves me correctly there was a change in cam timing and if you just replaced the one you may have put one of each in there and this would give you problems. also if any of the plastic slipped past the pick up it could have stopped the pump long enough to strip your dizzy gear
