Torch on block---
Have I messed up here, two of the the dowel pins on the sb Chevy block I'm getting ready to build were messed up real bad when I got it. tried vise grips but nothing, I them took my torch to it getting it "pin" red hot and it came out. I was told I might have warped the cylinder by doing this. any comment about this----------Richie

Motor assembled? if so, the piston could have held the cylender round or, got the pistion stuck in there, more than likely your ok but, you could make somthing that connects to a connecting rod so you could check the bore for roundness with a dial indicator, just a thougt.

Matt has a good point, check it out with a dial indicator. That right there will tell you if it's warped or not. I don't know what the minimum out of round it can be or nothing like that but you will be able to tell I am sure.

torch on block
Thanks for the replys, the block is empty. just a bare block, it has been cleaned and bored to 20k. I did notice a little discolor about i inch deep on the top of two cylinders and about 1 1/2 wide-------------Richie

Im not sure on this, but anything less than .010 out of round should be safe. If you have severe issues with the heat on the block, you may want to have it checked out IE:magnafluxed. Better safe than sorry.
