327 balancer keyway vs. timing mark!!

    Hi again.

    New question / concern.

I've heard it said on this formum that if your balancer keyway and the timing TDC mark are not perfectly in line then your outer ring has "slipped". I went to ebay out of curiosity to see if any other balancers out there looked the same as mine, and many did. My engine has an aftermarket cam, so 8 degrees past TDC is thrown out any way. I want to know if my balancer is junk or not. Just tryin' to avoid spendin' money where I may not have to! Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Small block chevy keyway and Balancer TDC marks are not in line with each other. Neither are the keyway and timing set marks. I see a lot of amatuer engine builders get in trouble because they are told to line up the keyways, instead of the proper marks.
