I get emails from NHRA and yesterday I received one for the Spring Nationals at Bristol. I went online to check the entry list and the news is not good. Sixteen entries in Top Fuel, 17 in Funny Car, 13 in Pro Stock and 30 in Pro Mod. I think the writing is on the wall, NHRA is in definite decline, especially Pro Stock. The new mandated EFI is so much BS and nobody has come close to either Anderson or Line and I can't stand either one of them.
IMHO, they should have taken Garlits advice from a couple of years ago and went to one fuel pump, smaller blower and back to 1/4 mile racing. For the average person it's pretty hard to tell the difference between 250 and 300 mph and there's more opportunity for the little guy.
And in Pro Stock you should have to use the clutch everytime you shift, that should separate the men and women from the boys and girls.
