Anyone use a G-Tech for 1/4 mile et?

ET, hp, 0~60, the new models of G-Tech do it all. My 1st G-Tech used a single accelerometer and had to be mounted level with the suction cup. The new ones use 3 accelerometers, plus GPS and picks up your spark signal for rpm. With my 355 sbc I ran a 10.8 @ 132 at Sacramento Raceway, and that matched what the G-Tech told me. I also use it for cornering Gs. The 383 on the G-Tech was 11.4 which would be right because I built it for torque down low and gave up 66 hp on the high end. A couple of weeks ago I did a run with the newly installed 427, which has 206 more hp than the 383, and when your car weighs 1790 lbs, the addition of 200+ hp is quite a character changer, recording a 9.739 ET, I'm a happy camper.

Bet the guys at the "GIZMO" stores love to see you walking in the door, Bob!
For the record, no, I don't use G Force, and until today I had never even heard of it. But I can see myself by the side of the road, "Oh no officer, I wasn't really "racing"! See, there's no one else here! I'm just trying to set a new personal best at this e-track this morning."

    Roger,

I bought my first G-Tech back in 2000 when I was turning up the wick on a 2000 Ford F-350 4X4 crew cab dually diesel. My seat of the pants could not feel a 10 hp increase in a 8000 lb truck but the G-Tech could. Most every automotive magazine uses them to generate the numbers they publish. Why do you feel this precision tool is a gizmo? For engine, exhaust tuning and chassis set up, it is indispensable. With as many variables as there are in engine building, tuning, and chassis set up, how do you do it? Do you have a dyno in your garage?

I remember when G-Tech's first came out. I think now adays if you have an iphone or android, the GPS is equally accurate and you can do the same stuff with just some free or cheap apps. I wish I could make some runs at one of the local drag strips, but with an open roadster and no bars/cage, they won't allow it.

Sacramento Raceway has the same policy, I'm sure it is insurance mandated, even on the Wednesday night "run what you brung". If they feel your ride won't dip too deep into the 12's, they have made a few exceptions. The night I ran I heard that their scales were down, so decided to give it a try. When asked what my car weighed, I said with a straight face 2450 lbs (660 lbs more). And with the same straight face when asked about my hp, I said 290 hp crate sbc. The tech did some number crunching and predicted I would run a mid 12 and said normally they wouldn't allow me to run, but since I was an older guy (thanks for that) would allow me to make a run solo, with no car in the other lane. I avoided the water box and staged, didn't dump the clutch or speed shift and got my time slip for 10.8 @ 132, plus got a copy of NHRA rules and requirements for 9.99 ~ 10.99 cars. Was told I couldn't run again till I could pass tech inspection for that class. So, G-Tech is all I have now.

Nope, no dyno in the barn, no G-Tech in the car (or smart phone app) and I'm perfectly happy without either one. Plug color, engine response and maybe highway mileage are about all I look at. Not much on bragging rights, just in it for the fun, keeping some grease under my finger nails and melting a little metal together once in a while.
