Curious if it is sold out for the finals.

PS---I want to marry Courtney Force......John Force Racing will not respond to my email's proposing marriage and the job I would like to have as part of her dowry.......What should I do next?????????
Dang, washed out 'til tomorrow at noon.. Larry Morgan didn't get qualified so he drops out of the chase.. 8-(

NHRA postpones US Nationals to next weekend due to wet weather
By Associated Press, Updated: Monday, September 3, 11:08 AM
CLERMONT, Ind. — Facing hours-long cleanup and resurfacing of the drag strip and the threat of more rain, NHRA officials on Monday postponed the final two days of the U.S. Nationals until Sept. 8-9.
The final two rounds of qualifying, rained out on Sunday, will be held on Sept. 8, along with the $100,000 Funny Car NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout bonus race. Final eliminations will be held on Sept. 9.
That Erica is on a hot streak.
And all those nay sayers when she dropped out a few years ago (She washed up they said). She's got a real good chance at a championship. Once the countdown starts anything can happen. She's been treeing some heavy hitters lately & she's got the horsepower now too.
At first I was bummed that it washed out but then I find out they'll re-do qualifications so that makes me happy as it gives Larry Morgan and his Mustang another shot. He hadn't yet qualified when they closed qualifying after the 3rd round.
He's 10th in points so not qualifying was a killer.
Just got home---lots of rain off and on---good thing they called it off so they will have another day of qualifying as many top running cars aren'yt in that seeded 12 cars friday nite fi assco---------planning on going back next weekend--shot about 900 pics so far----camera will do 6.3 pics per second so can get 30 or so per run -----must have 200 of the guys head one row in front of me--------------
Open house at Pedregons shop was super, the tribute car is WOW super---I thought he would put a firebird body on one of there year old cars, but no--he had a replica make as period correct as he could but with wath ever updates needed to run in the Nostalgic races-----
NHRA owns IRP and they really need to do something about the water run off/non run off puddling in the pits---all the super stockers were stuck in the mud and couldn't get out this morning as well as several other examples over on the sportsman side of the track--the pro pits(paved for all the semis----water standing everywhere, had a couple pumps going in one area but pretty much ineffective---kinda like peeing in the ocean to raise the tide!!!!!!at least they kept the wind to there backs!!!!!!!
I got lots of pics playing with my camera and will be uploading several just as a exercise trying to get better at the computer thing---problem is while taking pics you can't spot the wheel hop/tire shake, etc and I am sorta confused on wether I want to watch the race or take pictures--
Attachment 55466Attachment 55465This is for Dave and Bob,who are branded with FORD. Are you upset with moving the acceptance date for the NSRA events past 1948? Are you a die hard FORD enthusiast? Did you always want a RED FORD roadster (Speedster) that would attract young women and kids? Then you should have been in Ashland Va this week where there was a national meet of 1915 and earlier cars with over 40 running/driveable cars in evidence. There were a number of (very) early Ford T cars along with a REO and a Buick (pre-1915) running around town. I snapped a few pictures but these antique stockers did not really interest me until two young women rode up to a local strip mall in Ashland (the self-professed "Center of the Universe") driving a 1910 Ford T Speedster with only an oval windshield on the drivers side and no windshield on the passenger side. The "girls" are Janice and Natalie Weaver from Pinetops N.C. who have helped their Dad Johnny Weaver throughout their lives repairing and building three Model T cars, one of which is the neat 1910 T Speedster shown here, perhaps described as a GOW car? They started out restoring a 1923 Studebaker but the 1915 curtoff limited them to the speedster and a Touring T for this meet. I had no idea these cars were still streetable with most of them over 100 years old but they spent a week based here in Ashland Va traveling to local sites for a week and they were evident all over town. As I say only the 1910 speedster got my pulse racing and the others were just antiques for me but if you have an old T frame laying around with a viable title you too could build such a neat speedster! This kind of makes the old 1948 NSRA limit look "Modern"! That is my green 1998 Pontiac Sunfire parked at an angle in the second picture where I left it to snap the pictures. The girl in the passenger seat wore sunglasses as her only eye protection but i don't think they were traveling very fast.

Anxious to see the pics of the Nostalgia car, Jerry!!!! Sure would be a blast to see it running at an event!!!
Don,
This is an interesting post, and the pictures are great but they have nothing at all to do with the subject of the thread, which is the National Drags at Indianapolis. I would expect that you would generate some discussion specific to the Ashland event and the vintage racers if you simply started a thread with a related subject, like "Red Roadsters Attract the Girls", or whatever you might choose. Just saying I love your post, but hate seeing it in someone else's thread where it is going to be lost.
Roger----I got pics of a couple AMXs at Indy for you--------------going thru about 8-900 shots---gotta group and resize them before uploading---some for this thread, some for the tribute car (gotta make sure the pics with me in " em don't show too much stomach---seems I've gained a little waist---almost on a par with the size of the superchargers these days--------------
Just doing some reading on the Nats next weekend, sounds like someone doesn't think all the good runs are done for qualifying;
"You can look at it two ways," said Pro Stock season points leader Allen Johnson, who was the No. 3 qualifier through three rounds. "The weather (this weekend) could be a lot worse and (last weekend's) numbers stick and we're no worse off, or the weather might be perfect and give us the opportunity to get that pole position in qualifying.
"We'll focus on the positives."
My kind of racer!!!! It ain't over til the last round is run!!!! Go get 'em, Alan!!!! The competitive spirit is still alive and well in NHRA!!!!!!
a couple of AMXs for Roger
The unveiling
Gorgeous car Jerry!!!! Did you offer to take over the driving duties?????
I did not-----I found a long time ago I was better judging a run watching a car instead of driving it----I am going to Bakersfield Reunion next month and Cruz is planning on running it in the Nostalgic races--it was built like the earlier cars with just the required chassis upgrages required--
took 867 pics and have downsized all of them to sizes I have uploaded here before but am having difficulties uploading them-----got lots of 6.3 pics per sec of night runs, header flames, wheels hangin"
Also have several of some old time gassers that were on display----
Anxiously awaiting the pics, Jerry!!!!!
(Lord, Grant me Patience.....BUT HURRY!!)
Rspears,
Thanks for the gentle rebuke. Gee I thought one of those Weaver sisters might be C. Force running 4.049 at 317.27 mph (Amazing!) in a red 1910 T Speedster and I thought I would provide some eye candy while you guys are waiting until next week (it was sunny in Ashland!). Yes I have been working way too hard this summer teaching 25 college seniors two semesters of Physical Chemistry in only nine weeks. If I could figure out how to start a new thread on this new system I would but so far I am just glad I was able to figure out how to upload the pictures! Actually I doubt that there are enough pre-1915 cars to justify a thread but if someone else wants to set up a Pre-1915 thread that would be great but I only have one or two more pictures in this category anyway and I am not really interested in the ancient touring cars. It was only the ancient red Speedster that caught my eye. On the other hand it seemed profound to me that cars over 100 years old were running on the street, although not at 317 mph!
Best Wishes,

Don---while in Indy, We went to The Indy 500 Speedway Museum also---lots of cars there around those vintage years you posted--I took several pics of interesting things there that I'll hopefully get posted someday-------
seems every time i want to upload anything its different or won't load---I have resized the 867 pics from the weedend trip twice and have only gotten 3 uploaded here but have been able to email them with no problems
Jerry,
For those of us who did not get to Indy I sure would like to see some pictures of the funny cars with the body "up". For pictures which I have figured out how to post here I use an old Canon Powershot A20 which only has 2.1 megapixels resolution and so far I do not have to resize the pictures. My wife favors cameras with 7 or even 10 megapixels but then you have to resize them to post here or send by e-mail. Two years ago some funny cars from the Virginia South Side Speedway were brought to the VCU campus (maybe for the new Engineering program?) and they posed with the "body up" to show the engine details and I recall one aluminum block hemi which was really fantastic. Anyway the best part of Hot Rod Magazine over the years was the photography of pit crews and between-run-teardown-rebuilds. I find this sort of photography of pit crews doing major reconstruction just between runs revives whatever adrenaline rush my body can muster at my age. So if anyone has pictures of the funny cars with the body-hoods in the up position and maybe a photo of C. Force herself that would really add to this thread in my view. Sorry to intrude with an ancient speedster but I was amazed to see the two Weaver sisters driving around with only that small oval windscreen on the drivers side. I would like to see a thread that would feature early Indy racers and special early engines like Riley and Rajo heads on 4 cyl blocks. Hey real photos of Ardun setups would also be neat, but I don't think you can use a year cutoff for these special innovations so maybe it should just be called something like "Antique Rodding"? Soooo, maybe this is the time/place to ask someone for a tutorial on how to start a new thread on the present system? Dave seems to have it down pat so maybe he can tell us how to start a new thread?

Don---I took 867 photos at Indy-----I have several with body up---I have some of Courtneys #1 qualifying run (think I shot it at 6 frames /second!)
have several close ups of the cars in Pedregons shop that show details of engines pretty well plus dozens of old gassers and then many from Indy 500 museum-----tonight I'll work on uploading---------you'd better go get a six pack or two----------

Jerry,
Thanks for the detail pictures. That is a LOT of high tech, high buck equipment! I like the dual MSD setup! Did your camera freeze any of the 317 mph Courtney Force run?
