There used to be a saying about trying to remove a pound of weight, look for 16 1 ounce items! Best thing about weight reduction? It can be done cheap!
I know all about being cheap! I preferred to say frugal! I used to drive 3 hours, into New Hampshire pull off the D.O.T. tires and bolt the slicks on, Had a little pile in the pits, tool box, tires, gas can, oil & filter(s), mufflers w'pipes , belts and etc. etc. My cleveland based motor loved to eat pushrods if I missed a shift or wound it to tight between gears. I wasn't really fast but it was mine and I was having fun! On the bigger 2 or 3 day meets, I'd sleep under the rear of the car in a sleeping bag! Tracks won't let you stay on the property nowadays! Anyway, it was also a dual duty car as it had to get me back to work on monday! Heck, it had to get me home sunday night! And I was usually broke after paying entrance fees! I didn't even have enough gas for extra rounds.
So your not the first, and we're glad to see a young guy live the dream and we'll help where we can!
