Thanks Dave for the info on Pepper, yes he is the black version of my Nelson, I should of called Nelson Salt and then when we all get to together, we would of had Salt and Pepper at the ready to guard our cars.
I hope you can find some history on the '57 so to make your decision on what direction to go with it,eg restore, sell, trade or rebuild into a gasser of your liking.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Couldn't stand just looking at the car and not doing anything with it!!! I pulled the front bumper off, it has very little chrome left on it, and begain grinding some of the crud off of it.... might smooth it all out and use it as a buck to make a fiberglass mold... The bumper is fairly straight, with a bit of work it should work fine!!! Actually giving some thought to maybe doing the same to the whole front end!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thanksgiving is a Holiday, and as such I get the day off!!! So, I spent the day in the garage working on the '57! Got the front clip drug inside and taken apart, both fenders will need patches on the rear at the bottom but much too my surprise the area above the headlights is in great shape! Most of the tri-fives I've seen suffer from severe rust out above the headlights, guess I got lucky! The inner fenderwells, all the brackets, and even the vent tubes need nothing more then a bit of blasting and some epoxy primer! Still giving serious thought to turning the steel parts into a tilt front instead of buying a 'glass front end!
The chrome on the bumper is toast, but the bumper itself is in great shape so I'll probably just grind and sand it smooth and use it for a buck to mold up a 'glass one, stock bumper and brackets weigh a bunch!
Ok, on the front fenders. I won't have any chrome on the car so this means I'll have to fab up something to replace the headlight bezels and headlight screens....any good ideas for a bit of mild custom stuff, or just copy the stock shape with some 20ga and weld it in?
If anyone here needs or knows of someone who might need the inner fender wells, vent tubes, bumper brackets, radiator support and all the other little brackets I won't be using I'd much rather sell them then have them laying around....Couldn't stand the thought of throwing all this stuff away!
I've noticed in my research that a large number of the gasser tri-fives had a notched firewall and what appears to be about 4" or 5" of engine setback...probably have to do that, too!
Next time I can spare a day to put into the car I'd like to take the body off the frame, put it on the rotissierie, and get them out to the sandblast shop!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Nice days work Dave. I wish we had a reasonable place around here for sandblasting!
Hope you and everyone else had a great day off today." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

I'm really fortunate on the blasting, been using the same guy for 20+ years, first time he did anything for me was some suspension parts for a resto. His "shop" was a plywood enclosure in the corner of his Dad's machine shop on the farm! Now he has a very nice shop along with a huge portable unit he takes on the road, does a lot of work for the State Highway Department on their stuff, plus a lot of municipal street equipment. Best part is, he has always kept a corner of the shop and a bit of his at home time for some of us Hot Rodders who have been with him for so long! When you take parts or an entire car to him there's never any worry about how it will be done, always first rate!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
