Welcome!!! Hey Derek, we really like new guys wanting to learn about drag racing!!!!! Man, it's a blast!!!! For me it's always been second only to going fast and turning left in a sprint car, but I've also (finally) gotten smart enough to realize that drag racing is a lot easier on both the pocket book and my old beat up body!!!!!!

    I'll start out:

You'll probably be running a bracket racer....Consistency in a bracket car is far more important than being bullet fast!!! Repeatability round after round is going to win a lot of races!!!!

When you make a pass, do the same thing every time.... The way you stage the car, how long of a burnout, launch rpm, shift rpm, everything.... Spend some time talking with and observing some of the drag racers who have been at it awhile. Establish your own procedure, then do the same thing every time!!!!! Main thing this will accomplish is allow you to foucus and concentrate 100% on that dang tree and getting a good light.... Let the faster, faster, faster come in later...
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
