I got the rebuild back in my 55 and finished up. Took it over to the Dyno Saturday for tuning. The good news is that it made 380hp at the rear wheels, which is 100hp more than the old motor configuration made.
The bad news is that it broke the #7 intake keeper and the valve smacked the piston and got bent. End of dyno run. My builder has admitted that he did not clay the pistons during pre-assembly. So, now we are not sure if the keeper just broke, or it tapped the piston causing the valve to lift off the retainer/keeper and then break. So, we will clay that side, since the head is off now anyway. If tolerances are ok, the valve will be replaced, and we are back in business. If the clearance is not enough, out comes the motor, again, and Dave's Performance gets to have a do-over. I sure hope it is just a broken keeper.
My dyno buddy, Carl, seems to think a little more tuning will get us 400hp at the wheels behind a 600hp motor.

Beginning to look like I will only be a spectator this season!
