Questions about drag racing a t bucket

I'm going to race this t bucket that i'm buying and i have a few questions.

First off is it legal to run a t bucket at the strip? I've never seen one at the track that i run at so I'm not sure on this.

Also does anyone have a pic of a t-bucket with a roll cage in it? I want to put a dragster style cage in it to make it look old school. My friends dad has a pro sportsman car that has a dragster cage and I love the look of it.

How are you guys with t's hooking at the track? I realize that I won't have to build a massive engine to run good times, I'm looking for 11's or 10's out of it and I know i'll never be able to hook. From the little that i looked at the suspension its basicly a ladder bar set up in the rear, has smaller tube ladder bars with coil overs so at least thats a plus.

finally what would a t weigh with a small block chevy?

    Thanks for the help.

11's or 10's, yeah with a sick or is that six cylinder, and if it don't hook YOU messed up, mine STREET T runs low 9's, another members on here runs 8's, and these are daily drivers, weight is ballpark 1750lbs, no pics of T's with cages in em, don't like the looks.

viking, how do you pass tech at a track with out a cage?

Also what did you do to the suspension to get it to hook? I'm used to heavy g-body cars where we need adjustable control arms to mess with the geometry and its just hard for me to believe that these cars are hooking running 9's. I figured since most of the weight is up front with the engine and trans that theres very little weight in the rear. Thanks again

Well of course I can't, 9's=cage....after I got her running/hooking good on the street, engine is back far as possible without cuting the firewall, alu heads, MT sportsmens Pros running 6psi, and played with the preload till I only spun 1-2 foot I went to a test and tune at the local track, they ask how fast it was, I said I did'nt know but guessed 13's I really was'nt sure but was guessing mid-high 10's, well 9.42 sec later at 140 mph they told me not to come back without a cage, I still aint been back, not going to put a cage in her, it's a street car after all, oh yeah the wheelie bars are welded on and NOT for show, don't get serious without them for your own saftey.

very nice. What width tires are those?

I will probably get some mt et streets, I'm all about fast street cars so I want it to be streetable and quick like my monte.

Could you email me or if you have aim my name is mean83sc, i'd like to chat about your engine and your t. my email is kc2006@sbcglobal.net

I'm thinking I'll run a mostly stock 400 with a pair of canfield cylinder heads, i'm just starting to get worried about the price of the cars build and the ride its gunna make, lol i can only imagine with the short wheelbase.

As for a roll bar, i was looking in old hot rod magazines and they did 2 articles about thomas ivo and he had a simple bar in his, just a loop and a down tube right next to him. I'm thinking of doing that or something custom to fit under a hardtop.

yea i was starting to wonder what your other hobby's were besides cars

Thanks for the info guys, but after thinking about it I don't think I'm going to be getting the car after all. It would cost too much to finish and i don't have the big cash flow to cover it, but one day down the road I'm sure I'll grab one up. Thanks again, i'll be sticking around the site since theres alot of informative people here.
