Maximum length of NON-METALLIC fuel line (from tank to carb) is 12". This must include all short pieces used for connecting fuel filters, etc.
You can make up some low-buck steel line yourself. Autozone has lengths of brake line you can buy right off the hanger. Gentle bends can be made by bending the tubing around any round object, such as a soup can or cooking pot from the kitchen. Then, connections to the pump and carb can be made with short pieces of FUEL-COMPATIBLE rubber line and some hose clamps.
The line can be polished with a Scotch-Brite pad and then kept looking good by spraying on a coat of clear paint.
Not everything on a car has to be high-buck.

\back in my sprint car days, we went crazy on weight savings one year before the instituted the minimum weight rule. We decided paint was too heavy, so we did the entire frame and cage in the same method!!!!
