Dont forget the time Brandon hit the wall stayed into it way to long flipped over the wall and broke his tail bone. The old man returned to drive that year. BB missed 1/3 or more of his rookie season.
So it happens to everyone sooner or later

Ok, didn't remember if that was rookie year or second year, thanks Dave.

[QUOTE=Dave SeversonBut I got to ask again.... If she wasn't John's daughter, would anyone even have noticed, let alone still be talking about it???? ...[/QUOTE]

Probably not. We wouldnt be 'Force' fed (get it) her every move and probably wouldnt even notice a middle of the road team with a new driver because that rookie would probably be parked by now. Dave let me ask you this, would Big Jim Dunn be as patient of an owner in this situation?

And Dave remember this, THEY WANT US TALKING ABOUT IT!

No flippin' way!!!! Jim Dunn has a lot of things, but patience is definitely not one of them!!!! But then again, maybe if it was his daughter.......... Heck, who knows... My daughter can still talk me out of almost anything!!!!

As for Mr. Dunn.... Many years ago at the nats in Brainard I gernaded an engine in time trials one run before the fuel cars came out for qualifying. Big Jim made a trip over to the car to let me know exactly what he thought of the 7 quarts of oil I had deposited in the right lane!!! Really made me feel special to have my performance recognized by a professional drag racer!!!!!!!!

    Now thats funny!

But you said it right, it was 'recognition of performance' Thats the 'half full' kinda attitude I like.

Dave you're a driver so I'll ask. Wont these incidents by A Force speed up the learning curve considerably. I mean by compressing them into a small time frame SHOULD pay dividends, no?

Absolutely!!! You either learn your lesson in a situation like that and realize that correcting with throttle and steering is different at low speed, or you hang up you driving suit and quit!!!! We actually used to study all our tapes of every pass after a weekend....learned a whole heck of a lot more from watching the not so good passes as from watching the good passes..... But definitely if you learn your lessons when you make a mistake, the learning curve is greatly accelerated... I think you have to be "challenged" before you can learn the more subtle lessons of driving (or anything else). I guarantee you Ashley knows just exactly what that loop feels like BEFORE it starts, and will not make that mistake again.... If she learned from it, she's ahead. If she didn't and does the same thing again.... well then she is ready for some remedial training and a whole bunch of practice laps...after which the crew guys really hate you because of all the time they have to spend redoing the car!!! Heck, she has a great crew chief, and an icon of drag racing for a driver coach....How could she not be good if she has any ability at all??? I've watched her in the old Alcohol car, she does have ability!!! And the pass prior to the wreck shows she certainly has the ability to wrestle one of them monsters back to the center!!!! I doubt she will ever approach any of John's records, doubt any top fuel driver ever will, but I do think she'll be one to reckon with in the funny car ranks for years to come!!!!

There is a reason why "big Jim" would not be able put up with it. He does not have the money and is not near as good in marketing as JFR. She is there fbecuase of her last name....but dont think for a second it is not easier to market a good looking educutaed female compared to Bartone or any other number of drivers Jim Dun nhas had in the last 10 years. I did however like the Penthouse car and the women they had in the pits for 2 races before the NHRA told him he could no longer have that sponser

Am I the only one to hear it or did I hear it wrong when they said that the run where she beat Capps was the first time in competition this year that she left before her opponent? I find that hard to believe but I think thats what they said.
