    Fuel Cell Problem

I've had a JAZ 16 gallon fuel cell in a car for a number of years.
The darned thing has never really sealed off well.
Probably because of the pebbled finish on the outside of the cell doesn't make for a good seal with the gasketed, angled filler neck and there's a little weeping going on.
Enough to have a moderate to strong smell of gas in the trunk area now and then.

Kinda stupid to make em this way.
Especially when they are controlling where the fuel entry hole is cut.

It wouldn't have taken much to make a smooth place for the gasket to seat on in that area.

It's been re-gasketed a couple of times, but the problem never went away.

A fuel cell is supposed to be a safety device, but to me, this one is a hazard.

And to set your mind at ease, it's coming out and a well built tank is going in, in it's place.

Do all of em weep a bit or am I just lucky?

I've never had a plastic one that was completely dry. Gave up on them years ago and went to aluminum tanks with some foam and a good sump... I much prefer building a tank that fits my application correctly over settling for a plastic one that may or may not be safe!!!! Oh yeah, I put a rollover valve in all of them too.
