Vance Hunt: A REAL drag racer.

Today I had lunch with Mr. Vance Hunt, a friend of well over 55 years (we went to high school together).

I won't get windy like I usually do except to say that Vance is a gentleman in every sense of the word, and has the respect of everyone who knows him. In these parts older drag racing enthusiasts sort of feel like they should remove their hats and bow their heads when he walks into the room.

This article is rather lengthy, but take a look at his accomplishments (achieved without sponsorship) and look at the list of famous drivers his cars beat over his long racing career.

How many of you guys remember him?

I remember his name coming up a few times when I was younger at my Dads shop, early 70's .These older guys did it for the love of racing. Those were the best days. That reminds me Ive been planning to go by a friend of my dads shop.

I remember him--the picture from Bakersfield 1971, loosing to Garlits in the semi----we were in the other pair and we lost to Don in the final altho we ran low et chasing him---we saw at that time also that we would need a rear engine car altho it was late 72 at Ontario that we ran it first--
also remember him from Texas/California race in 1971
