yes they can and have built many this is all i do is big blocks but if you go to a stroker crank i would go with a h beam rod or a I beam rods and you can get to 496 at 060 or 030 489 i have buit a dozen of 496 and four or so of the 489 and you can get a 4.375 crank in a stock block 513 cid with H beams. i am building one right now and a 496 with stock rods and hiper pistons and two 468 one with 7/16 rods and one with h beams and one 598 and just did a 548
