well were hooked,my brother and i have now been discussing some kind of race car. i am leaning towards a econo bracket altered and here is the package i would look at.
vw front end,homemade frame and cage, narrowed t bucket steel body and a 9 inch rear end . for a engine i have a 74 454 block which i think we would put in a stroker crank,good rods and pistons. heads would be mild ported factory a hyd cam and comp around 11 to one if it work. rpm limit would be about 5500 rpm with the factory heads, run it through a powerglide with a 2500 rpm stall. put some 15 inch slicks on the back. i would hope we could get close to al least 500 hp out of the engine
we would aim for a 2100 lb car.
this might sound like kind of a wimpy package but we would be aiming more for super reliable et racing than a sheer out and out screamer
i would think this could run 11s all day long with very little stress on any portion of the car

i right now and running 13.5 s with a stock caddy 500 in a 3100 lb long wheelbase street bucket and have experienced some amazing drivetrain consistency . the driver is another matter but i have to work on that
