    Hurst Quarter Stick Shifter

I just installed a Hurst quarter shifter in my race car which has a turbo 400 trans. My question is when shifting from 1st to 2nd, I don't need to squeeze the lever. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd, I do need to squeeze the lever when shifting. This seems odd and sometimes confusing. Is this normal with this shifter? I would appreciate any input from guys using this same setup.
