    Best psi for radial t/a on strip?

     



    What is the best pressure ifyou are racing a 3600 lb nova with 12 bolt posi w/ 3.31's and traction bars. She has a 3000 stall on th350 tranny and about 370 horses. with this she still begs for traction. Et streets would be great but for now, its on bf street radial t/a's. Also, is it good to heat them up pretty good or would this not help since they are street radials? Thanks!!

    What pressure are you running now? I don't think alot of heat would help but a little might

    spin them just enough to clean them off. i wouldnt run them less than 25psi unless you got a wide tire on a small wheel.

    Stay out of the water. If you get in the water with a treaded tire its hard to get all of the water out of the tread. when you pull up to the light the water will run off of the tire and puddle under the tire and it won't hook up. spin the tire on the dry surface.

    BFG Drag Radials 18-22 psi.
    And like Mike said, stay out of the water. You'll not only collect water in the tread of the tire, you'll sling it up in the wheelwell and then it will drip back down on the tire and the strip surface.

    Thanks! Right now im runnin about 28 psi with 265/50r15's on 8.5'' centerline autodrags. Ima drop to about 22 psi and see if it helps...

    Take note that he said BFG Radial T/As, not Drag Radials. I'd be interested in knowing a rule of thumb for street radials as well. I realize that tires models are different, would be nice to have a starting point.

    do the burnout test. (on a back road somewhere away from police) do a burnout and look at the marks. do several burnouts while dropping the pressure in between until it makes the flattest widest marks possible. if the mark gets light in the center, put a couple lbs back in. id say 25 should be close if its a regular radial tire, not a drag radial.
