Compression or flow?
I am building a mild 1/4 mile s-10 and I only want to run low 15's high 14's. Will have a 350 with mild mods. I am on a tight budget (wife won't raise my allowance she gives me,lol). I have 2 sets of cylinder heads to choose from, here is my question. In the quest for more HP should I go with my 305 heads at 58cc 1.84/1.5 valves or the 350 heads at 76cc 1.94/ 1.5. I am guessing the 305 heads for more compression as long as I run higher octane. And I am 'assuming' the 350 heads will flow a little better but with a mild 350 I wouldn't think that to be a factor. And yes I know, both heads are only good as boat anchors but, I have to use one or the other, wifey won't let me buy vortec's.

Given what you have, I'd buy a die grinder and open the 305 heads up to work with the bigger 350 valves. Don't go crazy, just do enough to smooth the transition and clean up the rest of the ports.
The engine looks awesome, I like the low intake. That'll be some eye candy when the hood is popped.
