    Redneck '32 3 window/ Pete & Jakes chassis

    ....Hi Guys & Gals,

My name is Bill and I'm new to this site. I just ran across it {the web site} the other day & its way COOL!!! Anyway, last July I started what hopefully will turn out to be a life long dream fullfilled. I send Wayne over at Redneck Street Rods a deposit for a '32 3 window coupe with a Pete & Jakes chassis. I'M EXCITED!!! Sort of like {as I just read in a previous post} A KID WAITING FOR CHRISTMAS!!! Anyway, I love this site and I'll keep everyone updated. And I'm looking forward to getting a lot of questions answered cuz once I take delivery I've got a lot of work to do..... Bill.....
ps, I'll do a search, but I'm still not totally sure what amount to chop the top. I think I'll go with 3" in the front & 2 1/2" in the rear {Redneck chops your top to whatever spec's you want}. At the L.A Roadster Show I looked at Westcotts Body and didn't think it was enough {2 1/2" front & 2" rear}. I then saw an Outlaw Performance Body and thought it was too much {3 1/2 front & 3 1/2" rear}. I looked at I believe it was Baer that was 2 1/2" front & 2 1/2" rear}. I liked that look. I've read/heard that its better to go not enought than too much. Oh, by the way, I'm 6 foot even and have been told that a 3" front and 2 1/2" rear isn't too much, plus Redneck doesn't put the shelf behind the seat so you have more leg room....

Welcome to CHR, Bill. I personally prefer a 3" chop on a Deuce, but everyone has their own opinion. Just get the chop that looks best to you, heck it's your car. When is your delivery date on the frame and body??? Have fun with the build.

Hi Bill. welcome to CHR. You can look in my album and look at my sedans. the one with the white bottom is a 2" chop and the red one is a 3" chop. Even tho there sedans the front view will give you some idea's what it would look like.
Being 6' you'll have to be seating lower in the car. Not putting in a back shelf is one way to gain leg and head room.

If you want me to send you some pictures looking from the inside out just let me know.
The only dumb question is the one you don't ask..

My friend Darwin Allbritton (Darwin's Hot Rod Shop) is building Rednceck 33/34 coupes on Pete and Jakes chassis for a couple of coustomers. Very impressive packages. I think you ae going to be pleased with what you get.

...Actually its going to be a highboy. I'm sort of split 50/50 on whether I prefer the looks of full fenders or the highboy style. What was the deciding factor was the cost of fenders! Made the decission easier ..... Plus the functioning cowl & windshield cost more money. So, here again MONEY helped me decide. Hummm, but what about the chopped top? Well, I guess I must REALLY prefer the chopped top as I'm paying extra for that. So there goes my logic of not doing things that cost more money . I REALLY like the chopped look...... Thanks for the encouragment everyone! I really though I made the right decission by going with Redneck/Pete & Jakes & now after hearing you guys, I KNOW I did! .... In fact, I need to ask an engine question. Maybe I should go over to the small block Chev. section? O.k I will.... Thanks, Bill....

I think you are right on with your chopping theory, too less is better than too much. With the ocean of chopped cars out there, going less will probably make your car more unique with a smaller slice. And since your the one building it, its your decision. No worries!

Glad to hear you chose Redneck. You wont regret it. Wayne, and his whole staff for that matter, are very professional. And to top there responsive business manners, they are simply "down-to-earth" good people. I'm a very happy owner of one of there Mullins trailers. They even delivered it to me on their way to the NSRA Rocky Mountain Nats. With so many vendors in the hot rod industry who are out only for themselves, I figure you have to speak up for the few who actually "under promise and over deliver".

Jack, I'll have to find the catalog. I never talked to them r/e 'which axles are you using', I was just going by what the catalog said. It was about a 4 year old catalog {the chassis was built about 3 years ago} but I've seen it around the house within the last few months. But your right I need to back my complaint up with the catalog..... LOL @ "we are tired of hearing about Gibbon's"!! ah, not really, if someone 'burns' someone I don't think you can talk about it too much!!! Thanks, Bill

    Thumbs up Pete & Jakes

I have to agree about Pete & Jakes being one of the best in the business. I am sure if you call the Slovers, they will work it out with you. After being taken advantage by too many in this industry/sport...I only have GREAT things to say about Jerry and Jason. They delivered at or above their commitments every time for me. I am confident if they made a mistake, they will make it right. Let us know how this works out for you.
