C4 Corvette IFS as front end for Deuce

I am planning a lower cost Deuce roadster build and am thinking I will use a complete C4 Corvette IFS and IRS. In a factory Vette, both are just bolted to the frame, 4 bolts each.

I have to think someone has tried this? What frame requires little to no fabrication to bolt on the IFS and IRS? What are the issues?

My pipe dream is to buy IRS, IFS, frame and 8 nuts and bolts. Drill 8 holes and I have a rolling chassis designed by our friends at Chevy.

    Tex

It won't be as easy as you think, but it could be a fun project. E-mail me your phone number and I'll call you and discuss it with you. I could spend hours and days explaining it here. Been there, done that. richard.moore1942@yahoo.com

Here's an article I wrote for Hotrodders.com that may begin to get you headed in the right direction.

Just curious, are you planning a full fendered roadster?

Just got off the phone talking with John about this project. I convinced him that his height (6', 4") would not be compatible with a T body and that a Deuce would be a far better choice. He is planning to use an electric motor in front of the auto trans. We talked about the fact that most main-stream hard-core hot rodders will not like the IFS and IRS being used with a Deuce body, but I said Hey, it's your money, build what you want to. We discussed ways to make the whole concept look good when it is finished and the fact that it will not need power brakes or power steering. I can see this car on the road at less than 2000 lbs. I asked John to stay in touch with us here at CHR and he promised that he would. I'm sure all the rest of you guys would like to see what comes of the project.

Electric motor in front of a torque converter is an efficiency nightmare. If he is really going electron flow, (ultra modern) then a standard trans (ultra retro) is what he needs.

    Ironic, ain't it?

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
