That is one of my favourite "32 Roadsters and I too have that photo here in the 'puter. Not much I would change on that car if it fell into my ownership....
Got the blower snout today...

Putting that motor in a '32 Roadster reminds me of what my best friend and drag racing partner used to tell me. Marv always said, "Too much is just about right."
That sums it up nicely.... "Just about right"!:eek::LOL:
Color me green with envy.;)
Looking sweet!
The intake didn't fit because it wasn't relieved for the angled feature that is the valve cover sealing surface.

Sooo, a couple quick passes with a 1/2" ball end mill

Still needs a little deeper cut.

Still needs a bunch of cutting to get the that distributor in there. These first cuts let me know I'm on the right track..

Nice work. It looks like you're half way there on the dizzy.
Amazing what can be accomplished when one has the right gear in the workshop. I would of had to sent that sort of work out sadly. You and Steve on here are two guys that I enjoy watching your work.
Haven't even done anything 'cool' yet... You just wait!!
Tonight my goal was to turn a mock up supercharger drive hub so I can continue to build up the belt drive system.

One inch shorter on the crank drive hub. Just right.

Really nice fab work. Looks fantastic!
So, this is what I've been thinking for the front end... Looking for opinions/advise.

I like the chrome axle with holes punched, and the light setup, The leather hood straps are cool too. Very clean classic look, just enough chrome without distracting from the rest of the build.
like that front end
That style of front end requires a fair bit of tweaking to account for the method of hanging the suspension; chop off the front of the rails, spring hangers on the radius rods or some other form of rear (relative to the axle) bracket, and relocated rear pivots for the radius rods. Then there's the need to place the engine higher for pan clearance which raises the trans, which makes for a bigger hump to clear the trans bell, which eats foot room. Then the drive shaft tunnel being higher into the interior space. But you look like a guy with enough savvy to already realize that. Those are not necessarily negatives as long as a guy knows what his compromises will be and he can live with them. The look on the front of the car is really good though............so that's one of the payoffs.
Can't see the detail in your picture. Quarter elliptical springs?
I was thinking of doing push rods mounted to the radius rods. The push rods would act on rockers in front of the radiator and grill shell. The rockers would transmit the energy to a pair of coil overs mounted vertically.
I just think it would be cool to see all this action right out in the open.
The floor is vibrating here :)
You're gonna need bigger motor mounts!
Ordered brakes
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/o...pswosc7xbw.jpg
...and chrome I beam front axle, chrome spindles and kingpins from Magnum Axle. Going to take a month to get the axle and spindles - the forged stuff is pretty new for them I guess.
Brakes are here. $145 in shipping. Gotta love Hawaii. But they are the prettiest brakes I've ever bought.

Yes, they are almost a piece of jewelry.. almost to nice to hide under a car!
ALMOST!:LOL::LOL:
OK, so what wheels/tires should I buy for this thing? Has to be something 'different' and visually striking.
Now there is a loaded question!
Tires and wheels are one "of those" questions/choices that'll get you every time. I still like Cragar S/S... always a winner in my eyes!
If you want the sarcastic reply...??..?? Go with red steelies and wide whites!:p:LOL:
I was going to like the cragars comment, until the red wheels came up..
No need to make it look like the circus is in town..
Oops, the red steelies was sarcastic..
Ok. It gets a like after all!
IMO saying that red wheels are wrong/bad/ugly is just plain nuts. Everything is in the combination - body color, interior color, trim color, etc, etc, and harsh contrasts can be just right, when done right, and johnboy's Yellow Rose '47 looks "crash hot" with the red wheels. Circus wagon? Bite your tongue!!
Chopsmitty, I have faith that with everything else you're doin' in this build, the wheels and tires will be spot on and look righteous! Do you have a style or type in mind that pleases your eye?
Okay.. now that I've been put in my place..
I was only trrying to say that the red/wide white has been done to death and I have to cringe when I see a car out for the first drive and it has that same combo and the owner tells me how he wanted it to be "fresh and different", it's just been so overdone and it needed to be said "IMHO"!
Yes, alot of this was sarcasm, but if you like the combo? Great for you! You only need to please yourself after all, right??? And I don't believe Cragar SS wheels make any car look like a circus wagon! But again, just MY opinion!
I'm a drag racer at heart, so I was thinking of building it with an old school/high tech drag theme... So right now, I'm thinking of Weld Racing V-Series 17x4.5" fully polished on the front and 15x10 on the back with some drag radials. Big and littles!
I'll offer you one comment. Be 100% sure of the tire you plan to run on the rear before you invest in 15's. What was common a few years back has become rare as hens teeth today, and the specialty tires from Coker have become of questionable quality. Bigs & littles refers to the diameters, not just width, and the "tradition" is to look for six to eight inches of rubber rake if you're going for the big & little stance. Based on your comment about the car that Randy posted and the wheel sizes you posted, I believe that your definition must differ.
