I agree 100%. Something to disable the vehicle will at least make them work a bit to get it as opposed to something that just makes noise. How much attention do we pay to a vehicle that has the horn honking & lights flashing today?? It's become so common place that it doesn't mean anything - people just walk on by, trying to get away from the noise or worse, ask the guy if he needs any help??
Also crazy is someone asking a guy or gal to post up all of the nitty gritty details on how they protect their stuff on a public forum, including wiring diagrams, fit & function..... hellooooooo, do you think that the thieves can't read??Roger

No, they don't know how my car is wired, or what features I dreamed up to disable things instead of buying some off the shelf, POS "security" system. The point is that if you're building your own ride you build in your own protection, and someone asking what you did, in detail is like someone asking you if they can borrow the spare key to your Porsche, and you being dumb enough to give it to them thinking they're just admiring your car. Not saying you were asking for details, just saying..... Bottom line, if the thief wants your car he'll get it, given enough time.Roger

Always wondered the same thing, Shine!!!! A thief is normally going to look for the easiest target that he can get away with the quickest! A lot of car owners wouldn't want to bother with any sort of system that would be "inconvenient" to activate or deactivate, either....so buy some gadget that makes things easy to track AFTER it's stolen!!!!! Always figured that was right up there with closing the gate after the cattle got out! When we go drag racing for a distant event in an area we're not familiar with, we usually camp out in or alongside the trailer. Last time we did the motel thing, we backed the trailer up against another racer's trailer, then took the battery from the truck and put it in the motel room overnight. A friend of mine always takes along his 130 lb. ill tempered German Shepard and has him sleep in the trailer overnight---Imagine some thief prying the door open on that trailer!!!!
I've also wondered why, at the big shows, either the organizer or some enterprising individual doesn't offer a secure parking area with armed security to park your trailer with the car inside, and just take the pickup to the motel??? Bet a lot of Hot Rodders would put out a few extra $$$$ to leave the trailer under guard and not have to worry about it overnight! A lot of the 2 and 3 day racing events have armed security patrolling the trailer and motorhome lot all night, no credentials, you don't get in. Nothing is thief proof these days, but it's not all that difficult to make it look more attractive to steal someone else's pride and joy other then mine!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I like the 130 lb. ill tempered German Shepard staying in the trailer . But if they take the whole rig you just lost a good dog .
Maybe better to leave the dog in the truck . Kind of like the "Trunk Monkey "

That'd work too!!!! Many times the simplest solutions will confound the Hi-Tech thieves!!! But think of the thief who makes off with your entire rig, gets 100 miles away THEN opens up the trailer to see what his "prize" is??????
Sometimes paybacks are a real _ _ _ _ _!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

My deuce doesn't have door handles, and you cannot raise the trunk lid or the hood without being inside the car, so I feel relatively secure living here in the Midwest. But that doesn't mean someone couldn't pull it onto a trailer and drive away with it. It's insured for its actual value so if the worst happened, I could always build another one.

Just an added note here - those that have Grundy may not be insured. I questioned them after reading something 'elsewhere' and just received this back a few minutes ago. It's a boilerplate (read BS) answer, but doesn't tell me if I'm insured. I have to dig out my policy and give this 'phly.com' a call and find out some more. And I did NOT get any other notification other then a conversation elsewhere - p*** poor customer service
"Thank you for contacting Grundy Insurance.
We no longer service this account. Philadelphia Insurance recently assumed administrative responsibilities of policies previously issued under the name “Grundy Worldwide.”
In 48 states, PHLY has imposed a “non-compete” on Grundy Insurance at the current time, which prohibits us from writing new Collector-Car-Only policies.
We hope that in the future, the non-compete is reversed, rescinded or expired. Until that time, we can insure collector vehicles, but only in conjunction with other policies.
If you have any additional questions or concerns please let us know.
Thank You,

I currently have a "collector/specialty car" policy with Grundy. I understand that there are some problems with NEW policies for states other then MA and SC.
- Am I still covered in NY State?
- When it comes time for renewal, do you write the policy or does it go to Grundy Worldwide? Or do I have to search for another company?"Dave W

I myself like the good old 12 gauge.
I got a news letter a while ago with a stolen alert like I'm sure others did. I looked on youtube trying to find the video but did find a TV news report with video. it was a 57 Chevrolet that was stolen in daylight hours and neighbors security camera shows it being pushed down the road with a truck. here the link to make your blood pressure go up. they say people are following people home from shows in Kalifornia.

Keeping a pet 700 lb gorilla in the backseat would definitely startle the crap out of a would be thief. You would also have thief to hand over to the cops, even tho he would be dead from a coronary.
Dammit, another good ol boy gone. Condolence to the family. RIP Mike
