Don't have any pics in the raw.
Yes I cut out the base in the butt area, and run webbing(Ole boat seat trick)
Then cut all foam to desired shape.

This is how I built the seat frame in my roadster some years ago. The drawing is not to scale, by the way. It is made of 1 X 4 oak. I used furniture springs I obtained from our local upholstery shop and a synthetic fabric they use (instead of burlap) to cover the springs. I stapled that to the frame and then let my upholsterer do the rest. The seat back was a solid piece of 5/8" plywood. It was a comfortable seat.
