Are you sure you were at the street rod nats?
Where were you sitting during the car give away? I was on the second tier in front of the stage, there were lots of cranky old women fussing about the year change. They didn't shout their comments, but they sure b!tched about it in a normal volume.
During the rest of the show, I saw MANY (hundreds?) "Not Street Rods Anymore" shirts.
I only heard one person support the idea of allowing post 48 cars. There are two things in life where penetration is really important.....and one of them is welding.

You must have been NOT LOOKING ...
Thursday evening
There was a guy selling the Not Street Rods Anymore ... T-Shirt at the NSRA headquarters Hotel and he was selling them as fast as he could count the money.
I sat by my 32 3W ... for a good part of Thursday, Friday and Saturday
I saw LOTS of Not Street Rods Anymore shirts. Sometimes 5 or 6 at a time. I was parked right in front of the South Wing building
and LOTS of folks were walking by and stopping ... After the Saturday give away ( at which folks BOOED ... repeatly ) probably 1/3 of the crowd walked by my location. The boos were so prevalent that the announcer said " go ahead and get it out of your system " so they booed again.
I only heard two folks ( young RAT ROD looking guys ) say they were in favor of the change ... and I saw at least 10 signs around the fairgrounds ( banners on the tents ) saying NO to 1980.
At registration ... Thursday
I saw no one in line to register for 2010 ... and usually there is a line.
They had 11,003 NSRA car registrations for 2009 ( according to the NSRA announcer at the give away on Saturday ). That is a increase from 2008 ... A lot of folks I know said they were going in 2009 ... because they were not going in 2010 or later. It will be interseting to see ... what the numbers are in 2010.
Someone else will have to report them ... because I do not plan on being there.Going 33 and 1/3 rpms in a IPOD world

I did see that...I also saw you come by our booth ( I thought it was you....hoped you would have stopped)
We did not stay at the host hotel but were we stayed there was nothing like the shirts you guys have posted. We were at the Hilton Gardens. I am sure you guys saw more of the show then I did being in the building for 8 hours a day.
But I still think for the first few years when it is fresh for the tri-five guys and the muscle cars crowd the attendance will be up. Guess we will see.

I actually went up to your booth and asked for Iceburgh and the guy said
" WHO ? "
I said you are supposed to have a guy that goes by Iceburgh on the internet and then he said ... NOT HERE
Wish you would have spoken up ... if you saw me.
I would have bought you a Coke
and a Diet Coke for myself
The new rules for the 30 year slide will be good for the vendors who sell " universal " stuff. But the vendors like Dick Spadaro, Cornhuskers and others who only sell pre - 48 stuff ... will not fare as well.
As a Lifetime NSRA member ... I fell cheated. I did not join a street machine association ...
I am stuck ...
My number is #20XX ... so I have been a member for a long time ( and a lifetime member since 1982 ).

That would have been Mike ( short guy dark hair) I flew in and did not get there until about 2:00 pm on Thursday.
Maybe next time.
How about that car in our booth (1935 Ford) really really nice....but I have to ask you guys an opinion onthis. You dont want newer cars there and there are good arguments as to why. But what about a car that people dont build and have 7 figures in and will not even start it. Just push on and push off the trailer. What are your thoughts on that?

The number of seven figure cars are so small, in comparsion to all the other vehicles ... the high dollar stuff does not bother me. I am glad folks like George Poteet and others have that kind of money to spend.
I enjoy driving mine ... and do so.
How and what another person does with his pre 49 is his or her business.
That's like the 32 3W you built.
NOT my cup of tea ... but I can still enjoy looking at it and the workmanship.
It still looked like it could have been a 1932 Ford ... but modified.
Did you ever sell it ??
A friend of mine is looking to buy one built in the style you was built in
This little aluminum bodied hand built Model A was parked next to my 3W ... for a few days. It was hauled in on a trailer ( unloaded on the fairgrounds on Wedneday ). It does not run, nor does it have a tag or insurance. It is basically a PROP. Did not bother me ... because it looked like a old Ford and the owners were nice folks having a great time. They had been coming to Louisville since the big flood ... but this was the first time they ever had a vehicle inside the gates. He did tell me he was preregistered for 2010
