Power Steering install with an I-Beam front??

Can power steering be installed on an I-Beam front suspension?? I am running a 327 with a 350 turbo-automatic. I heard that the entire front suspension HAS to be changed over to a Mustang II suspension. Is that right?? THANKS for the info and assist.

I could be wrong, and occassionally am, but I thought I had read someplace that a company has devised a system such as this. Doesn't use standard parts, but does provide PS in a non MII type front end. Unfortunately at my age remembering all the facts is kind of sketchy. Had to be in Street Rodder or Rod and Custom because that is all I get these days, except for the Rodders Journal and I don't think it was in there.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

Bob, Not sure if that is the same one that I remember, but with my great memory it could be. Might be cheaper just to redo the front end with a hub to hub MII system. All depend on where your heart lies.

You don't say what steering you have on it now.If it's the vega cross steer then you just need a power steer vega box,a pump, hoses.belt & pulley and brackets.

I had a 56 Ford pickup which came stock withan I beam front axle. I put a 390 motor into it, and the steering was very difficult, to say the least. I did some research, and found that there was a power steering adapter available for it. It seems to me that it sat where the drag link from the Pitman arm normally set.

GM used powered steering boxes for years. I use a modified GM 605 powered box on my '55 Nomad. Easy conversion.
