well i got home yesterday and hooked up the engine lift and cut the motor mounts off the frame and then i moved the engine back 1.25 in . then lowered it a 1/4 in then tok the trans mount and flipped it so the trans didnt hit cross member , made new slotted holes on that and everything bolted up. nicely. now the radiator sits on the cross member where it belongs . tonight ill fit the firewall and cut the floor for the tunnel and shifter location

Sometimes the thoughts of doing something are worse than the actual work itself. We all hate to tear something apart and start over, but if we don't do it we live with the problem forever, or until we get fed up and finally do something about it.
You made a very wise decision, now you can move onto other things and not have to keep wondering about this one. That's building a car, knock down one problem at a time and tackle the next one. I think this thread will be an important lesson for others who run into problems like this in the future, and you digging in and just doing it will set a good example. :)

Well far as a hood im gonna run a 3 piece hood that will be removable , when funds are saved up again...
i think im gonna name this car tight fit !! got alot of obstickles to tackle , but anything that gets in my way ill warn you ""ill cut"" ..lol. anyway made some good progress last night till the neighbor walked up the driveway and said im makin too much noise late at night.....needless to say i wasnt done fitting stuff so i packed it in for the night , but stay tuned im off this week from work so ill hopefully have the frame mocked up complete , and off to powder coat the following monday .....
That's what I enjoy about country living, never really liked closeness. nearest neighbor is 50 yards away and he works nights at HD so he is never home. The other neighbor built a new house and moved leaving the old house as a for sale by owner, which so far hasn't. All other neighbors are too far away to be concerned with anything short of an explosion. :D
You did the right thing, me on the other hand, after kindly explaining the problems I had been having with the build, might have suggested to your neighbor that having a wrenched shoved up the old wahoo was not an impossibility.:LOL: :LOL:
yeah well my neighbor looked a little nervous comming into my garage after he looked at me with my angry look on my face .....but hey it was late and i was wrong so ill keep the noise down after 9:30 at night .
Fortunately, at my last house we had super neighbors. They tolerated my garage noisemaking at night, and I tolerated their pool parties and loud friends who stayed late into the night. It was just understood that we all offended each other from time to time and that was part of living with neighbors.
But I have had homes where they were not so understanding. Had some who called the cops on us at any little code we broke, and Cape Coral has more codes than Morse. However, that is a double edged sword, because as soon as they would screw up, the cops were at their door too. I never liked to be that way, but usually a few of those visits and they got the message that I was not going to screw around.

got alot of good stuff done today ill post pics soon ... im so glad i moved the motor back dispite the fact of all the extra work but now it is all correct .
my goal is to get the frame compltely mocked upthis week, because saturday next week the frame is off to powdercoat . hopefully i dont forget anything once you powdercoat that is it...

Yup, that's the worst part about powdercoated frames, something always gets forgotten or has to be modified.... Hurrying to get it off to the powdercoat shop just increases the odds of it happening....Good luck.
Yep, there is always something ! My suggestion is to completely finish the car start it, drive it for a couple hundred miles, then blow it apart and chrome and paint it. Then be real careful when you put it back together. Just a suggestion from someone who has forgotten something or changed something on a build. :3dSMILE:
Power coating your frame might be a bad idea on a hiboy. I hear the body and frame come out a little bit different and there are lots of different blacks. I have no experience on this just from what I read. Im sure some people can enlighten you on this.
