Wait, it wasn't a meteor...................................

Unlike the rest of these doubting Thomases, I believe you cause I have seen a similar event just last year. About 2 AM on my rear deck, sitting in the old hot tub, when a streak came across the sky from the south to the north. The object was probably several hundred feet in the air and left a trail of smoke behind it for about a quarter of a mile before it disappeared. No sound, no color except bright white. Never saw anything like it before or since. Was too late in the summer for the Perseid meteor showers, plus it was a one shot event. Had a strange smell in the air afterwards, like burning sulfur.

Can only assume that it burned out before hitting anything, since there was no report of anything being damaged in the direction it was traveling. And no, I don't drink in the hot tub, nor do I sleep there.

Now the part about the heat and temperature increase, I don't know. Nothing like that happened where I was. For a sensation like that I would think you'd have to be really close to the object. Closer than I would want to be.

Just when I was about to doubt my sanity, I am glad to see I am not the only one who has seen something like this...

Oh no no no, the temperature part was just a comment from me about how cold it gets at night driving a roadster with no top on it. Where I live is always quite a bit warmer than Thousand oaks, so the temps going up a bit was normal, but I liked the thaught that crossed my head last night : "Or did I just lost ALL feelings in my face" ... cause after freezing for a while, well... you freeze no more LOL. (too numb to)



The burning object did not have any smell, sound or change the temp. But it did look awesome... Maybe it was a Taiwan satellite? (made in taiwan, so broke down after a few months of use and fell off the sky LOL)

PS: I felt like a pirate yesterday, driving in pitch back darness a black roadster with no licence plates what so ever... hehehehehe... (I had the butt patched up and repainted, remember? So we didn't want to drill holes to put the 32 plates - just yet - needed to dry for 24 hours - I'll do it today when I come home from work).

PSS: maybe that bright light was actually UFOs coming to check out (and maybe even abduct) the roadster after reading about it on the yearofthedeuce.com website ... Then they fried when entering the eartyh's athmosphere hehe.. that'll teach them!

Actually, about 10 years ago my one Son and I were out night fishing on our boat, and we had heard on TV that a meteor was expected to hit that night, so I kept watching the sky. I saw a few shooting stars about the expected time, so I thought, "big deal." But a little later I looked up, and there was this thing the size of the Sun moving across the sky with fire trailing off of it, and I couldn't believe the size of the thing, or how slow it moved across the sky. I could never explain to anyone how enormous or bright that thing was.
