one rotation of the tire and count the number of drive shaft turns.
my guess it is in cam timing somewhere. worn cam or jumped time .

So for today I was able to discover that theres fresh oil in the two spark plug holes on the drivers side closest to the headlight, and the plugs on the passenger side are just black. To me, it didn't look like they were gapped properly, but I haven't been able to find my gapper, so i'm not sure.

Also, I attempted to check the gear ratio, and i'm hoping I did it right. I marked the wheel pointing down, marked the driveshaft pointing down, and checked how many times I rotated the driveshaft before the wheel made it all the way around. What seems strange is it was just under 2 rotations of the driveshaft before the wheel would come all the way around. And only one tire spun (passenger rear). The drivers rear will only move under great force. Do you guys think the parking brake is stuck on or the rear drums have locked up?

much easier to turn the wheel . check again because i doubt it it less than a 2:0 gear. but it it is a high gear then that is what is bogging down the motor .

I thought it was weird too. I looked up some videos on youtube and I think i'm doing it right. Does wheel size have anything to do with it? I've got some aftermarket wheels that I think would be an inch or two smaller than stock.

I probably do. I'm better versed with newer cars, but this is my first time dealing with drum brakes and carbs and such

On a rearend if one wheel won't turn, the other turns twice as much-------

also-------that wheel that doesn't want to turn WILL cause the car to bog-----
By popular opinions-just a grumpy old man key board bully--But really, if you are going to ask for help on an internet site, at least answer questions about what you are asking about-----

put it in neutral and see if it rolls. easy check on brake drag.

I'll try and roll it around the garage, but the tires are also sorta flat, which is one of the reasons I didn't think too much about the brakes being locked up.

As far as oil in the spark plug holes, do you guys just think its a leaky valve cover?

most likely running fat plus low rpm . get the bog figured out then drive it a few hundred miles before anything else. get it hot and leaned out and most likely the ring will seat and seal up .
