The HO stands for high output, it also stands for big valves, rectangular ports, forged pistons, forged steel crankshaft, forged connecting rods and four bolt mains.

Connecting rods is right. Now noone ever sees a connecting rod sticking out of a chevy do they? We just relieve the pressure of the engine a little bit with the special tool that all cheby cars have, the rod in disguise. HaHaHa

I was at pick and pull and somebody had pulled a Chevy 292 from a truck and left it half way out. On closer (but not much closer) examination, I realized why. A piston had left a 4.5" hole in the oil pan on it's way out of the engine.

Hello, I am working on a 77 Nova with a 350 engine. I found that the engine had broken pushrods on the exhaust side of #6 cylinder and the intake side of #8. What would cause this? Also on taking the intake manifold off, I only found one of the pieces. Would the other piece be in the oil pan? Would this condition blow the head gasket?
