My 350 wont turn over need help

Okay so i bought a 350. I checked to see if it would turn over it did. I put it in my truck went to hook up the torque converter andbthe motor wont turn over butvthe torque converter is spinning freely. What i mean by wont turn over is i cant turn it over by hand at all. So could i just not be seated correctly? Still even though the torque converter is spinning freely

And remove spark plugs to make it easier......I once worked on a 1976 C10 chebby with a 350 that had
over 350,000 miles on it....motor had never had valve covers off. Motor was a tad loose, you could grab the
balancer and turn the motor, belts and all. I didn't take the valve covers off, figured it would only screw things
    up.

I think it would have started with a Briggs rope pull.
