Would that work ?
This idea is akin to a friend of mine who dropped a screw down his carburetor. He used a stethoscope to isolate which cylinder it landed in and had the idea to remove the plug from that cylinder and run the motor to "blow" the screw out of the spark plug hole. The only good thing was that the screw did pass thru the open valve. Piston was stronger than the roof of the head. Spark plug hole vs. 8-32 x 1 inch screw didn't agree with each other.
Well every small block Chevy I've done you can't drop the oil pump drive shaft in from the top anyway. Drop the pan, drop the oil pump, find your tape, Put your drive shaft in the oil pump and reinstall the pump the right way.
You wanta kill off the internet fun???????
It's in and running.
Fired up, ran for a little bit, pulled it off the pump screen
I'm so glad you got this settled, I was beginning to get worried you were going to fret yourself to distraction.
