I can hear my 357 SB missing

When reved up to anything above 2000rpm. (and held while parked)

    I can hear it missing.

    I have 3 guesses.

bad 16 yr old coil?, bad 16 yr old module?, needs high octain then 87?

    What do you people think?
    had a rebuilt 355SB chevy
    it lasted 42,000km
    Got another rebuilt 355SB
    it lasted 62km.
I still have not had a powerful engine.

Is it intermittent or does it seem like one cylinder misfiring?

Wooow, I am really surprised to see a Timkin in there. I use the smaller ball bearings in mine. Actually I found a cheaper source for the ball bearings. I use shot from a 12 ga. . I don't know if yer' spoz' ta' use them cuz' of the new no lead laws, but hey, it works for me. While I got yer attention, I gotta ask ...... How do you keep seals on that bearing? My guess would be some sort of ceramic unit or a dry lube injector... How am I doin'????

Depends too if the johnson rods are carbon core or copper core.

An ohm meter should tell the story on your plug wires. How about the cap, rotor, advance mechanism, and general wear on the distriblutor??? Did a leak down check show all the cylinders to be good, or are you trying to fix a valve problem with ignition peieces???

How about pulling one plug wire at a time to locate the bad cylinder, then go from there.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

oh got to keep those V8s hittin on all 8!

ive had some valve springs go bad, idles ok but once on the gas shes a V7 - find the dead hole (via pullin wires or a compression check) then you can pull your tappet cover off & watch your springs go UP & DOWN & you may even get shot with some dirty motor oil!?!?! if your lucky! LOL!!!!!!!!

    cylinder 4 is 149 psi.

    My motor runs perdy good.

I Just want a big improvement in power.

So I will just run this motor till I build a big block to swap in.

I made the same mistake once; built a 355 when I shoulda built a big block for my trailer towing rig and now I gotta live with it. Had a similar miss when we first had it running but it was just the lash adjustment on an exhaust valve was too tight. Might help. Good Luck!
