    For around 1500 you can do something like an Edelbrock package, with the performer intake, carb, cam and then add headers.

    Boring a motor and new pistons alone won't give you as much benefit as the above will..

    Then you're going to need to improve the brakes. Going faster isn't any fun at all if you can't stop it when you need / want to!
