What was his reasoning for changing to the Crome-Mollys? I do believe that you have to hone the cylinder differently, cause the crome rings need a differnt cross hatch pattern to seet propperly. Also you should not use sinthetic oils until after the rings are seated. That could be Typoons problem!

HEY, watch the spelling eh!! hehhe! No I do not use synthetic oil, EVER. And yes, dominick, I switch my rings back and forth. When my wife is with me, I usually wear it on my...... anyways. The smoke seems to have died off a tad bit since I sealed the rocker studs and changed the intake gasket.

My guess is that the chrome moly needs a little more time!

Hey Travis, I think I know the one you mean. We had a swing you winde up and it would go back and forth for half an hour or so. Man, that was decades ago! Either you are really young or I am old!

I meant no offense "Typhoon", was just relating something I had went through. It's hard for me to diagnose internal engine problems without looking and touching it. I am very glad to hear that she is smoothing out and I hope you have many many hours of enjoyment in your refreshed ride. I can't wait untill my car is done so I can be driving it around.

Hey brickman, your post was not offensive at all. In fact, it encouraged me to just have patience for these rings to seat. You see, I am totally confident that I staggered the rings, (hiccop)!

Whatever comment you thought I was making at you, know this. Usually I quote the person I am addressing or I address them by their name, in order not to have people be confused.

On another note, I have always been of the opinion that you can NOT re-use rings. I have no idea how you got away with taking the motor apart and then reinstalling the same rings. I was told that they would never seat in such a case. Maybe it worked in your case cause they had never seated in the first place.

Hey Bo-Tie, He swears the Total Seals kill the cylinder walls ???? But he's a drag motor guy and everybody knows them straight line racers can't make a motor last longer than 8 seconds (LOL) I always figured they oughta make a left at the end and race back on the return road(he-he-he)
