    2006 Chevy 5.3

I want to rebuild my 5.3 motor with more power. Where do I look or get information to be able to start this process?

A lot depends on your definition of rebuild, and what your budget is. There's a lot of performance left in the ECM and with the addition of some long tube headers and a good breathing air intake system will really wake up a 5.3. As with any rebuild, a strong bottom end is essential, lots of good power can be had with heads and cam selection but this will also require some re-programming on the ECM....

Like DaveS says, these newer engines have some power hidden in the programming, and keeping it street legal for you or the next owner (if that's a concern to you) is more involved than on older stuff. Have you been on the vehicle specific forums to see what's been done by other owners? Here's one link that seems to have five or six pages of owner interaction for a starting point. If you're looking at getting more into it post your details. Link - Squeezing Performance out of the 5.3L Page1 - GM Forums at GM High-Tech Performance Magazine

To add to the above information provided, exhaust, air intake, AirAid PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer, 180 thermostat & Hyper tech will open it up.
