Priming loss/fuel delivery probs?
My little monza is giving me fits again. I went out to my car at 1pm (which is when i get out of school) and Im guessing it was because of the heat outside? im not sure but my fuel pump wouldnt pick up any gas out of my tank? I took the inline off and it was dry but I stuck my finger to my fuel pump and had dad turn the key on real quick and it was sucking hard. The 3/8 rubber lines are not old enough to have collapsed i dont think. The weird thing is, I can come back at like 5pm and it cranks rite up. Ive never encountered anything like this before .. im not sure where to even start...Im gonna drop the tank this weekend and check the pickup screen and see if i cant get that old in-tank electric pump out..
ANY THOUGHTS??

I checked and a 76 Monza never came equipped with an in tank fuel pump ???? They had a engine block mounted manual fuel pump. Also it sounds like you have installed a frame mounted electric pump Is it mounted lower than the tank and as close as possible to the tank ? They are not designed to suck fuel although they will to an extent.

We've already hashed this out before, haven't we? You say, "Installed to spec in the trunk", and everyone here says mount it as low as possible on the frame, below the tank if at all possible. Pull the in-tank pump, as it is a flow restriction, and it may be a flow block if the pump is frozen and cannot free wheel with the flow. Then get the electric out of the trunk, mounted as low as possible and see if your problem doesn't disappear.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
