I'm new to the forum. Don't have an extreme amount of car experience but here is what i got. A 82 datsun 280zx. Has a 350 sbc. No tranny. I need some advice from someone who knows a thing or to as to what should be matched with it. Thanks

Most simple route would be a TH 350. Millions of them made, very compact compared to a TH 400, and IMO a lot more simple to install and set up than a newer overdrive automatic. But I've never played with the overdrive ones, so I might be corrected by someone on here. :)

The 200R4 is more compact than the Turbo 350 and has the overdrive for better mileage when cruising, use a Lokar T.V. cable as setting it up is EZ,the best 200R4's are from 1987-92.Good info on the 200R4 is available on the Art Carr website.
Jags that run is a shop that sells swap parts for a set-up just like what you have.

and if i wanted to make a decently cost effective, mid ranged power. What would be best? I'm not looking for a dragster, and i'm not lookin for a cruiser. I'd like a sort-of street. This engine has pretty much all edlebrock bolt ons BTW.
If you can afford it, go 2004R. They are more expensive than a TH350, but the overdrive for cruising is a nice feature. You can run low rear gears for performance and still be able to cruise the interstate without over-revving your engine.
