Suburban 350 Engine Swap
Hey out there,
I've got a '95 Chevy Suburban. I want to pick up a crate engine for it. When I check GM Goodwrench.com and GM Performance Parts.com there is no info as to wether any of the crate engines will work with my current stock sensors, computer, Map sensor - or for that matter if the damn thing will even run. Does anybody know if I can use the 285 hp or 330 hp 350cid crate engine with my current stock setup without changing anything - or if changes need to be made - what to do? I've been hotrodding for years, but with non-computer controlled vehicles.
My current engine is a stock '95 non-vortec 350 with TBI.

Basic questions:
1. will the engine even run?
2. if it runs, will it shoot error codes to the dashpanel? (check engine lite etc..)
3. will my stock induction - intake,TBI work?
4. is there any computer change required, if so what would work?
5. assuming all is ok would it pass smog in California?
6. Would the simplest thing be to pick up a Vortec Crate Engine, and the matching Sensors, Induction and Computer for a '96?
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks guys! It's been a long road. Fun doing finishing work for sure. Getting the dash ready for paint and some interior trim. Have to do some finish work on the aluminum headliner before...
