Sounds like you should look for a stock engine in that configuration already and go play.......

Alot of that type of racing comes down to the driver..the engine always helps, but luck of the draw and driver play a big part also.

I would imagine you will meet some nice people that will share what works there and help you out....most people are nice and love to help out someone new, this keeps the sport going and of course there will be some less than nice people too.

Get in there and have fun, this is what it is all about...winning will come with time and experiance.
