Hot Rod 305 victory!!!
So, my puny little 305 is waitin for more mod's and I have this conversation with a 350 buff about what he thinks. Another "pal" of mine chimes in with "...and that's why I bought a Honda..." So naturally I defend myself with car spec's I'd long since comitted to memory and sure enough find myself out on the pavement with this guy. We race in an undisclosed location and he beats me by two and a half car lengths. Did I know this would happen? Absolutely! But my point was (we had witnesses to verify the event) that Im not far behind having put only $1600 into my ride and a lot of that was stuff I ripped back off anyway. His "screamin demon" has about $3000 in it and a $5500 paint job to boot. He maintains that close is only good in horseshoes (while he snickers at my boots and hat) and nuclear bombs, but my other buddies have a new found respect for me and my Rod!! Well I'm still lookin for more parts and I am determined to use the 305 after this event's results. Matt167 you helped me out a bunch!! Some how I overlooked the performer package you mentioned. I've done some research a little (one day's worth) and it sounds solid!! Thanks!!

I forgot to mention in the other post, there is an identical cam to the performer cam in Summit. I matched them up and the performer cam is $117.88 and has dururation = 204/214, lift= .420"/.442" and the summit cam has dururation = 204/214 lift = .420"/.442" and the part number is SUM-K1102 and it's 79.99 and comes with lifters and assembly lube. The performer cam also comes with the lifters and lube but it is a little more expensive. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

If coming in second in a two car race with a Honda is a victory then you'll be very happy with the 305." Im gone'

Got that right, Al. Around here we don't call it 2nd place, though. We call it the first loser. No replacement for displacement!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Apples and Oranges
All things being equal, bigger engines make bigger power. Yeah you can take a small engine and make good power with it. You can even make really impressive numbers with turbos, superchargers and NOS (for a litttle while anyway).
If you plan to run against a car of about equal weight with more engine the following may come in handy:
"Missed a shift"
"timing's off"
"couldn't get traction"
"Got a tank of bad gas"
"It needs tuned"
"Tranny's slipping"
"Did you say go?"
"well, I THOUGHT I was fast"
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
