    well you got a response so you know what my social life is like hold the bearing with back side facing you when you file it. if you slip you will not hit the finsh side of the bearing .do not use a air grinder to open it up .the hot metal will stick to the babbitt .check your oil clearance on the thust i would not be shock that its pass .004+ with a king H bearing
