You've been warned by nitrowarrior not to use the 5-speed behind a V8. Now go ahead and poke the bear with a stick if you're going to be hard-headed about it.
If I were your Pop, I'd take all the toys away from you and make you put your head into some books. Your composition and spelling are atrocious.

I'm typing all of this on my phone, and the auto correct is hell. Now if I wanted to be insulted, I would have spoken to my family about this matter, but seeing how helpful you have all been so very helpful with this matter, I'm just going to figure something out without your help. I was hoping that this would be a good place to seek wisdom but I guess all of you people are pompus jerk-wads, now good day to you sir!

I would do some junkyard scrounging looking for a bellhousing and tranny that would bolt up to your 305 and that would be almost all sbc's from the 60's.Ken Thomas

Hey!!!!! No reason to waste any more money on college!!!!! Seems like you already have all the answers---
Guess I'd offer the same advice I offered my own kids, concentrate on your education, placate yourself with some cheaper hobbies till after you're graduated and gainfully employed, show a bit of respect for your elders. The advice they give, though sometimes appearing pompous, is usually given from a "been there, done that" retrospective look. We'd all like to see you avoid some of the same mistakes we've made......
But, like most, you'll probably ignore the advice. So someday when you're whining about broken cars and huge student loans to repay, we all sincerely hope we will be there to say, "I told you so!!!!!!"-----both of my kids have heard the latter a few times.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

When I was a kid, my father once told me, "Son, you'll soon be as smart as I am - maybe smarter. But you'll never be as wise as I am until you have lived as long as I have."
Didn't understand him when he told me that - but I sure do now!
Sigh.. somethings never change.
We have the mistaken notion in this country that somewhere between 55 and 60 people become "obsolete".. Don't know about the rest of you, but my best years are right now and I believe that I can contribute as much if not more than I have ever been able to before! I'm looking forward to "peaking" when I'm 85!
The automotive knowledge base on this site is unsurpassed. The wisdom about life here is deep too. Please reconsider your words, saitek, and listen to those who have lived through where you are and can bring great value to your project (save you time, money and maybe your life) and perhaps impart a bit of wisdom along the way! You might just want to start this thread all over..
Just a thought from an old guy who's built more motors for cars, boats and bikes and what have you that I can even remember..

I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
