    Older 283 Heads

I'm doing some planning for my 57 Chevy Hardtop project. It will be a 60's style street setup with 2" lift in back, stock front height, wide 15" chromies rear and 5" narrow Cragar SS up front. Ditch the front bumper, and call it good!
I want to use my 283 and have a set of original heads with staggered valve cover bolt pattern. Can anything be done with these heads? Keep in mind that I am going for a period look here. And this car will see street speeds only.
    Gasserrule? What do you think?

Any head can be improved with some port work. They may not flow with later ones, but it sounds like you're at least equally concerned with the period look as with actual performance. 283 street engine doesn't need all that much head anyway.
