Fuel Problem
I have a 350 Chevrolet engine in a 1960 Biscayne.
It has a 600cfm Edelbrock carb with an electric choke and a mechanical fuel pump.
Recently, the car would not start, so I replaced the mechanical fuel pump as I could see via the clear fuel filter that the carb was not receiving fuel.
After replacing the fuel pump I started the car - it was popping. missing, hissing and back firing.
After a few "let it rest and try again's" I restarted the car -- it idled and ran beautifully - I did notice the fuel filter was full of fuel and drawing hard.....
Then, while running beautifully, all of a sudden the car began to pop. miss and back fire again. I immediately looked at the fuel filter and found that the filter showed very little fuel -- it was obvious the engine was lfuel deprived...
The new fuel pump is an 80gph unit, is it possible the new fuel pump is bad?
Or should I look for something else?
Thanks for your advice....
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
