Aluminum can be powdercoated to look great either as metallic silver or in colors. Monster Motor Sports should be close to your location. I bought a 700R4 from them because they have a mechanical lockup for fourth gear instead of an electrical switch but I don't have it running yet. I would be interested in your evaluation of the Monster Motor 700R4 versus others if you get a chance. I attach a picture of an aluminum steering wheel I had powdercoated locally, I chose a natural metallic look but I could have got a coating in several iridescent colors. An aluminum pan could be powdercoated to give a pretty close match to the body color or metallic as you wish.

Those Billet Specialty kits are very nice looking, but very costly too! I'm using my stock stuff until I can save my pennies for that level of window dressing!
I agree chrome is more trouble than worth which I have been dealing with on my Harley softail. It just screams to pit and rust, as well as looks like *$%^#@ when it isn't clean. Don't know how well polished aluminum holds up over time. As long as it doesn't oxidize it looks great!

Very nice looking belt drive kit. Was drooling at the serpentine kit on summit.. a little beyond my price range at $3000 something

This is what I think I'm going with, and about to order:

    Edelbrock enduroshine intake manifold
    Edelbrock enduroshine carb
    edel. air cleaner
    700R4 bracket
    chrome intake bolts
    billet water pump
belt drive kit (marck?) guy doing the quote has lousy hand writing
    o-ring water neck
    mini starter
    holley fuel pump
    melanized dist. gear
    MSD HEI distributor
    block hugger headers coated
    throttle cable
    transmission cable
    cable bracket
    flex plate
    chrome pwr steering pump
    chrome oil pan
    balancer
** car will be inside, but not in AC so humidity may cause a problem down the road..

I already ordered the tranny from Monster, awesome place to deal with and a funny jingle on their phone system.. I beleive it has a single wire overdrive setup.. wondering where to run that one wire.. a switch in the cab?

oh one more thing.. this is only going to be a part time show car, the other part of the time its the buc mobile (has tampa bay buccaneers carved into the wood running boards). Was going to get a football helmet paint job!! but pa in law decided not to do that (phew). Its his car I'm just doing all the work. Try installing power windows, door locks, seats, trunk opener, antenna, keyless entry, satellite radio, and all the normal electrical in a 1940 packard then have the motor crap out during the first ride.
