Anyone priced a BDS supercharger for a LS? Shocker!!! Ouch!!

Have you looked at MagnaCharger? Here's one for GM Trucks and SUVs
and for a CTS-V. It has a jack shaft drive so intake is on the front. This one has an intercooler.

I have seen them on a number of conversion cars and Corvettes too. 500 RWHP is very realistic and still streetable and gets decent gas mileage.

Thanks Pat. I have seen them and concidered them. Still pricey but its still a possibility. I'd have to go with the truck version....air intake offset to right...for more clearance. And cheaper than the vette version. Thanks for the reminder. With the myriad of saved email (I send myself emails with links to sites of interest) I nearly forgot the Magnusson. :D

Pat, totally unrelated, and I will start a thread...but...what do you use for a transmission cooler for the 4L? I bought a pair of 18" heat sink style hoping they would work. Know of anyone that is using these versus the fin/tube style?

EDIT: I think I found my answer with a search....found one of your replys. I'll be using a pair of dual pass 18" (similar to the Moroso unit) heat sink style from Jegs. I hope it will be enough. I really didnt want to find out later down the road it wasnt suffient enough and have to mess up my perty painted frame to mount a fin/tube/fan style unit. I believe I'll invest in a mechanical gauge to place on the outlet at the transmission somewhere. Take a trip...in the heat....locked up.....stop....and crawl underneath to check my temp. Do you trust the electronic gauges for trans temps?

From the picture of the air gap I found....it just looked as if the area between the two carbs was totally open....not part of the plenum?? That why I was wondering what to do with it. Am I wrong? I havent seen one in person. Just wondering.

Dave, I am using one of those 18" double pass heat sink coolers and a Derale deep pan with the cooling tubes running through it. Seems to work pretty well. I don't have a temp gauge to verify though.

My wife won't let me buy toys like blowers. She doesn't like the sound of them.:eek: :CRY: But I have heard some good things about Hampton Blowers; might be worth looking into. Their prices seem a little better than some of the ones you have been seeing.

I agree Bob. I have been planning on giving Don a call....just havent had time yet. I did send an email....but I'm told he prefers calls....so call I will.

By the way....nearly have the C4 rear ready. I said I wouldnt do it again but....now that I think I know what I'm doing....I believe I will do it again depending on what results I end up with as far as handling and driveability. I wish I had a little more fender (downfall to open fenders) for suspension travel. Hope 2.5" of jounce will be enough. :confused: It may ride like an old mule first trip out....may have to stiffen it up and live with it. :D

Oh...and by the way everone.....I am not knocking BDS's product!! I shouldve said that up front. I know that they have a great product...I was just hoping for a better price. I know the old adage.....you pay if you want to play.
