Scat Crankshaft
I went to pick up my block from the machinest today. Got it bored for the Scat 383 kit, decked align honed, hot tanked, and got everything balanced. He's pretty well known around here for drag racing so I figured I could trust him, not only that he was almost half price from what I was quoted at three other places. Anyways I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me decide to get that rotating assembly balanced, it says it's already balanced and the crankshaft alone was out by 12 grams. I don't know if that's alot but he seemed to think so .
Only problem is now I want to build my engine and forget the body work!

Maybe yes, maybe no. 383 cranks are balanced to 400 crank specs, that is external balance.
I've used (no BS) hundreds of Scat cranks and never had a problem.
by the way 12 grams is a lot.Buying parts I don't need, with money I don't have, to impress people I don't like

Kinda o/t but a few years ago Scat was running a special price on some FE cranks with an odd stroke. I contacted them to see what they recommended for a piston/rod combination and they were zero help, just some comment like take it to a builder. I did some research and found that it would have taken custom made pieces to utilize and would have been no bargain if it was free. My opinion of Scat has never recovered.
